Could you elaborate on this please? are you saying that on the EFI
bikes, the ECU will not always allow the starter to turn even though the
battery is functioning? Do you mean the startup battery is ok but undercharged or something?
A lot of use have had this problem. Since I've been hitting the starter
with the choke pulled out and before the the ecu finishes its
sequencing I haven't had it any problems.

information, Forchetto. I had no idea this was a problem with the new
EFI Bonnevilles. Your solution is extremely helpful and something I'll
have to look into for my bike. When faced with similar starting problems
in the past, I've "bumped the starter" to the get the bike running
(jumper the starter relay contacts).
I wonder, has anyone roll-started their bike when in such a situation? That seems to be another quick fix if suddenly stranded.
