If I never visited a factory, I don't know what forklift truck is. I saw they use the truck to carry products that are very heavy. Those forklift trucks are often used in the factory, supermarket or other places where heavy goods need to carry somewhere. A forklift is a powered industrial truck used to lift and transport materials. The modern forklift truck was developed in the 1920s. Now the forklift has since become an indispensable piece of equipment in manufacturing and warehousing operations.
Each of those forklifts has a long life lead acid battery, which is called traction battery. In fact, each forklift has two huge batteries - one in use and one being recharged. Traction batteries, like all rechargeable batteries, have a finite lifespan. The length of this lifespan depends very much on the usage application, and as such there is no real 'rule of thumb.' The amount of use, the frequency of use, and the way in which the battery has been charged will all impact on the lifespan of a forklift truck battery.
Traction batteries are used in many applications usually to supply power to electric motors for motive power or hydraulic pumps. This type of use requires a higher degree of lead within the internal structure of the battery, both in the plate and inters cell connectors and the plates themselves.
Although those batteries are very useful, please be careful when you have one. Never allow sparks or flame near a charging battery. Batteries produce explosive hydrogen gas while charging, which could cause an explosion resulting in injury or death. These traction batteries use sulfuric acid as electrolyte. If the battery ever overflows, take a few minutes to rinse it with water immediately afterwards (baking soda optional) to prevent corrosion on the top of and beneath the battery. Use enough water to thoroughly dilute the spilled acid to ensure that it is not harmful to the environment. Those spilled acid is both highly conductive and corrosive.

But these chargers do not make the power source completely immune to the problems of temperature variations. Regular maintenance and checks should be done so that problem can be detected beforehand. Once every year, regular check and once every two years, completely loaded test is suggested for these batteries, for those too that have a temperature compensated charger.

These days we all are very busy with business or Christmas shopping because Christmas Day is coming. It's close to the end of this year, so we have lots of things to do, such as do the annual report, or next year's plan, etc. In China, Christmas Day is not a traditional festival, and we always celebrate the Spring Festival that is a very important traditional day. So many people who works far from their family will go back home before the Spring Festival and spend the vacation together with their family. Most foreigners are shopping goods for the Christmas while Chinese people are buying products for the Spring Festival. The two festivals are all very important in a year. My company will celebrate it together with all the staffs and there are some shows that are performed at that time. It's the happiest time of a year.
To get a good time, I need to work hard and solve those reports as soon as possible. After that, the last thing is to check the car. You know, I am not in my hometown and far from there, so I have to drive my car home. Of course, add full fuel to the tank then check the car battery to get started, which is important. Due to the cold weather in winter, it is hard to start the engine. The best way is to remove the MF car battery for a fully charge to ensure it's OK. Quarrels stop me to think about motorcycle battery

I know tomorrow is weekend so I am very happy to work hard. The HR manager talked to me this morning and asked me some questions. I don't know if my answers gave her satisfaction. But who care? I just do what I really need to do. So let's start the short conversation about VRLA battery.
In fact, VRLA batteries are classified as VRLA gel battery and AGM battery, which uses the same construction and different electrolyte. However, the same advantage is long cycle lifetime. AGM battery adopts high quality AGM separator to extend cycle life and prevent micro short circuit, while gel battery uses special lead-calcium alloy to boost up the grid anti-corrosive performance and extend the battery using lifetime. Most people will choose VRLA gel battery because they need less maintenance. Wednesday belongs to golf cart battery
More and more electric golf carts are found on the golf course, which also proves that lots of people like the game of golf. Those vehicles are electrical devices, so they are completely powered by batteries. In other words, golf cart batteries are the soul of any cart. Be careful not to overfill, or the sulfuric acid will hurt you. When you find anything wrong with the golf cart battery, you always need to do some maintenance to protect them. For example, if there is battery acid leaking, you should clean up and neutralize them. Mix a solution of a quart warm tap water and a half of cup of baking soda. Use the solution on a soft cloth and clean the spill. Then Keep those golf cart batteries clean. However many people like to charge the cart when they go home. Then keep the charging all the night. In fact, you need to calculate the time. Don't over charge it, or it affects its performance. Deep discharging will shorten the service life of any lead acid battery, including the golf cart batteries. So when it's close to the end of power, charge the cart right now. Don't charge it after you use up its power. If you golf cart batteries deeply discharge, even one hour, it still has a great influence on its lifespan. Remember that never over charge or deeply discharge it. The last point is to store it after you give them a fully charge.

Shorten the Lifetime of VRLA Battery
In fact, VRLA battery is always used in the ups system and its lifetime is defined as the period of time in which a battery is capable of being recharged and retains the charge applied. Once the battery is no longer capable of being recharged or cannot retain its charge properly, its lifetime reaches its end and it becomes a 'used battery' for the application it was designed for.
The lifetime of a VRLA battery is very dependent on its rate, conditions and kind of use. It is estimated to be between 1 up to 5 years. Depending upon manufacturer & product, expected life of all lead acid batteries will be cut in half for every 10-15 degree (F) rise in temperature over recommendation (usually 77 degrees F). For VRLA types, impact of excessive heat is most severe because it will lead to dry-out and open circuit failure, and in worst case scenarios in combination with older chargers, can contribute to thermal runaway, with explosive results.
Most UPS systems cycle batteries not just during outages, but also for changes in load levels as well as large dips in input voltage. In fact, many battery companies now limit warranties based upon the number & duration of these discharge cycles. Charge voltage, current and duration also has impact on VRLA reliability. Older or defective chargers can overcharge or add ripple current leading to heat buildup and premature failure.
Clearly, it is good idea to keep temperature controlled to 77 degrees F or less, and this is easily and regularly done. So temperature also has an important influence on the VRLA battery. Of course, if you don't take care of these batteries, it also will shorten its life. All the factors could reduce the lifetime of VRLA battery.

How to replace a new VRLA battery for electric wheel chairs
VRLA batteries are known for safety and are used in scooters, wheelchairs, motorcycles and cars to prevent acid spills on engine components. Electric wheel chairs use VRLA battery to prevent acid spills when traveling on uneven ground or turning over. In general, VRLA battery can be used for about 3-5 years. So you have to replace a new one when they are disabled. Here I will share my experience to help you to replace a new VRLA battery for electric wheel chairs.
1. Turn the wheel chairs off and park it.
2. Place an adjustable wrench on the negative black battery terminal nut. Turn the nut counterclockwise to loosen it and pull the battery cable off the battery. Repeat this to remove the positive red battery cable.
3. Lift the battery out of the battery box by the handle in the center of the battery.
4. Grasp a battery terminal cleaner with one-half in each hand. Twist and pull off the cap. One half has a pointed metal brush and the other half has a round metal perimeter with a hole in the middle.
5. Insert the pointed brush into the battery cable ends and turn it left and right to clean them. Insert the round end's hole onto the battery terminals and turn the cleaner to clean the exterior of each terminal.
6. Place the VRLA battery in the battery box. Position it with the negative and positive terminals on the same side as the original battery.
7. Place the positive red battery cable on the positive battery terminal. Turn the nut on the cable clockwise to tighten it with an adjustable wrench. Replace the negative black battery cable in the same manner.

My car battery can't be charged because of sulphation
God, I can't start my car. My plan will fall through. I should have driven my car to the park with my friends but the car drops the ball. I am sad I can't go there. Then I start to check it. When I find it's all because of the car battery. I am so surprised.
I charge the battery with a charger, but the indicator light is unlit. I guess the light is broken. Then I leave it alone. But after several hours, there is no reflect on the battery. In general, the car battery will be a little hot, but nothing is found. That means this car battery can't be charged anyway. I have to spend extra money to buy one although I am not willing.
When I are planning to throw it away, I find there are some crystals on the surface of any car battery. I remember that one ever told me it’s sulphation if the crystals are found. Oh, my god. It must be over discharging. The professional said, "The reason behind this is a chemical process called sulphation. When a car battery is charged this chemical process cannot take place. Never leave your automobile battery in a discharged state
When a automobile battery has been fully charged it can quite happily be stored away for 2-3 months. However when it is flat, storing it for this period would almost certainly damage it beyond repair.
The reason behind this is a chemical process called sulphation. When a automobile battery is charged this chemical process cannot take place. However, when the battery's voltage falls below 12.4V this process begins. The process causes sulphur crystals to form on the lead plates inside the battery, which in turn increases the battery's electrical resistance. The longer this process is allowed to continue the worse the effect. Eventually the battery will become so electrically resistant, that you will be unable to charge the battery, let alone draw power from it.
If this process is caught early you may be able to salvage the automobile battery using a battery charger with a pulse charge function. This will partially break down the sulphur crystals but the battery will never reach its full capacity again.
Remember that if your automobile battery fails due to sulphation it will not be covered under warranty. This kind of failure is classed as damage caused by the user through neglect.
So take care of your automobile battery, and it will take care of you.

How to install lead acid batteries
As we all know, lead acid batteries are very different from other rechargeable batteries, such as lithium ion battery. Just like mobile phones, we only need install it on the phone and it will work normally. When its power use up, we can either charge it through a data cable or by a universal charger. The two ways are easy for us to operate. However, due to its specific design, we are not able to install the lead acid battery like that. Here are some simple steps to help you properly install these batteries.
1. Disconnect ground cable first.
2. Note position of Positive (+) and negative (-) cables. Mark cables for correct connection to the new battery.
3. Remove old batteries.
4. Clean terminals and cable connections. Broken, frayed, brittle, kinked or cut cables should be replaced.
5. Clean and/or paint and repair battery compartment and hold down.
6. Install and secure the new battery. Be careful not to ground the terminals on any metal mounting, fixture or body part.
7. Connect the cables tightly. Connect the ground cable last to avoid sparks.

But sometimes we still worry about them because these batteries contain sulfuric acid which is a highly corrosive poison and will produce gasses when recharged and explode if ignited. This can hurt you! When working with batteries, you need to have plenty of ventilation, remove your jewelry, wear protective eyewear (safety glasses) and clothing, and exercise caution. Do not allow battery electrolyte to mix with salt water. Even small quantities of this combination will produce Chlorine gas that can kill you! Whenever possible follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Lead acid batteries contain a sulfuric acid electrolyte, which can be poisonous and is highly corrosive. Flooded Lead Acid batteries will produce gasses when discharging and re-charging which can explode! Using charging method where batteries are resting will reduce corrosion during resting period (tested by YUASA and HAWKER in 80S with VRLA AGM batteries). After resting period, it is very important to get batteries (all cells) full charged. If batteries are not equal, it can be challenging. Weak batteries become weaker time after time and will be broken faster than others. It is good to find weak ones before they are broken and using periodical charging method you will find them. OCV should not be too low during resting period. If you are using standard AGM lead-tin / lead-calcium-tin alloy products UPS system should work ok, if recharge voltage is 2.33 VPC + 20 C X hours and after this period normal float voltage X h. If you are using AGM thin plate pure lead products, all cycles can be challenging because very limited cycle capability. So, it is very important to use right type of recharging voltage and current if you are using periodical charging.
Depend on the battery technology being used. Most UPS type batteries (AGM Flat plate) are not design for deep discharge cycling. If this was a design requirement, a tubular plate Gel or flooded type battery would be selected.
UPS and Telecom batteries are continuously float charged not only to keep them fully charged but more importantly to minimize positive grid corrosion which maximizes battery life. All UPS battery life estimates (and warranties) are based on this since UPS batteries tend to ultimately fail due to positive grid corrosion / grid growth (not paste shedding or cycle-out). The positive grid actually corrode more rapidly when the battery is at open circuit than when the battery is being properly float charged. If my memory serves me, it was established sometime in the late 1980's that grid corrosion is minimized when the positive plates are polarized 30 - 70mv above the OCV.

Environmental Factors Affect the VRLA Battery Service Life
Although there are many factors affecting VRLA battery service life, here we just discuss about environment.
1. Ambient temperature. The normal operating temperature of VRLA battery is 20 - 40 ℃. The maximum operating temperature is 25 ℃. As the temperature rises every 5 ℃, the service life will reduce 10% and it's prone to thermal runaway.
2. Ambient humidity. The working humidity of VRLA battery should be between 5% and 95% without moisture condensation. There is moisture condensation in the surface of battery when the humidity is too high and it's prone to short circuit; if it is too low, it easily produces static electricity.
3. Dust. So much dust will make the VRLA battery short circuit and safety valve blocking is out of service.

The most common type of lead acid battery - VRLA battery
If you are not familiar with lead acid battery, I think you never heard of VRLA battery that is the most common type. VRLA battery is short for valve-regulated lead acid battery. They always include a safety pressure relief valve, so they don't require regular addition of distilled water to the cells. As opposed to flooded lead acid batteries, a VRLA can not spill its electrolyte if it is inverted. In fact, "valve regulated" doesn't wholly describe the technology. The oxygen evolved at the positive plates will largely recombine with the hydrogen ready to evolve on the negative plates, creating water and so preventing water loss. The valve is a safety feature in case of hydrogen evolution becomes dangerously high.
VRLA batteries are commonly further classified as AGM VRLA battery and gel battery. The electrolyte of AGM batteries is being held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates. Very thin glass fibers are woven into a mat to increase surface area enough to hold sufficient electrolyte on the cells for their lifetime. The fibers that compose the fine glass mat do not absorb nor are affected by the acidic electrolyte they reside in. These mats are wrung out 2–5% after being soaked in acids, prior to manufacture completion and sealing. The AGM battery can now accumulate more acid than is available, and never spill a drop.
However, gel battery uses a gelified electrolyte. The sulfuric acid is mixed with silica fume, which makes the resulting mass gel-like and immobile. Gel batteries reduce the electrolyte evaporation, spillage (and subsequent corrosion issues) common to the wet-cell battery, and boast greater resistance to extreme temperatures, shock, and vibration. With gel electrolyte the separator was no longer such a critical, hard to make component. And cycle life was increased in some cases dramatically. With gel electrolyte a number of the shedding of active material failure problems were eliminated. More importantly real gas recombination was used to make batteries that were not "watered" and could be called maintenance free.
