Guide to motorcycle battery

As the number of motorcycles donning the roads motorcycle batteries come in as many shapes, sizes and power capacities. Each machine's demands vary so very much from that of the others that the manufacturers of motorcycles opt to have batteries from the battery manufacturers. The charging rates of the motorcycle batteries, the discharge rate, the duration and optimum amperage and voltage of discharge define the electrical properties that differentiate each battery from one another. Making a comparative shopping for motorcycle batteries will enrich you with lots of details about the battery industry for vehicles.
It is a well known fact that motorcycle batteries eventually wear out over time and will slow down. This happens because, as time goes by, the sulphate used in the batteries flow over the plates and thereby reducing the conductivity. When you think that its time to replace your motorcycle battery, take care that you never remove the battery, leaving the engine on. Another important thing to be noted when removing a motorcycle battery is to make sure that you always remove the negative cable before removing the positive. This process should be reversed when you are installing a new battery.
Installing a new battery to your bike needs atmost care and caution. If you have purchased a conventional non sealed battery, you may need to activate your motorcycle battery. Activating is nothing but adding acid and charging the battery to the point of optimum functionality. This is done by removing the sealing tube, and filling the battery with electrolyte. After filling the battery with electrolyte, leave the battery idle for about 30 minutes. After that the battery has to be charged to the optimum point. Then optimum charging time for a new battery is 3 to 5 hours at approximately 1/6 of the rated capacity.
Sealed motorcycle batteries require much less maintenance and never require additional electrolyte. . Note that you should connect the positive cable first before connecting the negative. Be cautious while attaching the cables so that you identify the correct positive and negative terminals. Reversing the polarity will explode the battery or inflict a great deal of damage to your bike's electrical system. If you are not sure about installing a new battery, get the help of the experts. You can seek the help of the motorcycle battery suppliers from where you buy the battery. Firms like septechnologies sell batteries online and also are experts in the field. They will be always ready to help you in installing or charging or removing your motorcycle battery.
When it comes to buying Motorcycle batteries, or any batteries most people make a terrible mistake by choosing the least expensive option that is available and save the extra cash. However, buying cheaper batteries that are available in the market today will eat up all your savings in the way of maintenance.

tips for charging a auto car battery

If your car battery is dead, your can safely connect it to a charger and get your car running again. A auto car battery should only need to be charged if it is stored for a long period of time, a draw on the battery has accidentally drained it, or if the battery is aging and you're trying to restore charge back to it. The latter reason will most likely only temporarily restore the charge to the battery and replacement of it should be considered. Car batteries provide the initial boost to start the vehicle as well as power to the electrical devices. The alternator takes over once the engine is running and perpetuates the reproduction of power back to the battery. The alternator does not fully recharge a car battery, however, but a car battery charger can, if the battery is not already compromised and the charger is used correctly.
1. Put on the safety glasses before using the battery charger. Batteries contain a diluted sulfuric acid solution that can emit flammable hydrogen gas that can ignite by a small spark and cause the battery to explode. Safety glasses that wrap around all sides of the eyes are strongly recommended.
2. Read the entire owner's manual of the battery charger to learn how to place the settings and how the charger works.
3. Place the volt setting of the battery charger on 12 volts if applicable. Many car battery chargers have a 12-volt default setting with no other volt options.
4. Select a low amp setting (trickle charge) to charge the battery slowly. A low and slow charge to the battery will help desulfate the crystallization of lead sulphates providing a higher amperage output return. Setting a higher amp setting may be successful to shorten the length of charging time, but will decrease the desulfation reaction inside the battery.
5. Select the correct battery type setting on the charger if applicable. Most modern car batteries use a conventional/low maintenance battery. Do not select "deep-cell" if present.
6. Place the battery charger as far away from the car battery as the clamp wires will allow.
7. Use a compatible AWG gauge extension cord if necessary to reach an electrical outlet. The owner's manual of your charger will disclose the correct gauge extension cord required to operate the charger. If an extension cord is not necessary to reach the car battery, the electrical cord on the charger is already equipped with the correct AWG gauge wire. If the charger does not have a power-activated timer switch or an "on/off" button, do not plug the charger into the electrical outlet or extension cord at this time.
8. Place the red positive alligator clip of the charger onto the positive terminal end or post of the battery first. Batteries installed in cars may have a red cable going to the battery post. All car batteries have a "+" sign stamped near the positive terminal post.
9. Place the black negative alligator clip onto a non-painted metal bracket or bolt head as far away from an installed car battery as possible. This will reduce the risk of sparks from occurring near the battery, which can cause an explosion. For uninstalled car batteries, place the clip directly onto the negative terminal post (marked with a "-" insignia) ,or use a single wired/double clipped jumper wire at least 24 inches long with the correct AWG gauge and attach one end to the black alligator clip of the charger and the other end to the negative terminal post.
10. Activate the charger. Different chargers are activated differently. Some supply electrical power to the charger the second they are plugged in. Other chargers have "on/off" power button sources on the unit of the chargers. Others still have a timer-power activated switch that will begin the charging process when the timer dial is set to a desired setting.
11. Allow the correct amount of time to pass by (per owner's manual instruction) on the trickle charge of a completely drained battery. Less time will be needed for batteries not completely drained. Most battery chargers will have a gauge that will display when the battery has reached a full charge. The trickle charge procedure may take 8 hours or more to restore charge to the battery. With this in mind, the battery charger should be monitored at least every hour to stop the charging procedure of the battery once it has reached optimum charge. Overcharging can damage the internal components of the battery.
12. Unplug the charger (or power it down) before removing it from the car battery. Remove the negative alligator clip of the charger first, and then the positive clip. If you're going to attempt to start the car of an installed battery before removing the charger, be sure the alligator clips and wires will not come into contact with moving engine parts.

How to greatly increase lead acid battery life and performance

Average battery life has become shorter as energy requirements have increased. Two phrases I hear most often are "my battery won't take a charge, and my battery won't hold a charge". Only 30% of batteries sold today reach the 48-month mark. In fact 80% of all battery failure is related to sulfation build-up.
There are ways to greatly increase lead acid battery life and performance. All the products we sell are targeted to improve performance and battery life.
An example: Let's say you have "toys"; an ATV, classic car, antique car, boat, Harley, etc. You most likely don't use these toys 365 days a year as you do your car. Many of these toys are seasonal so they are stored. What happens to the batteries? Most batteries that supply energy to power our toys only last 2 seasons. You must keep these batteries from sulfating or buy new ones. We sell products to prevent and reverse sulfation. The PulseTech products are patented electronic devices that reverse and prevent sulfation. Also Battery Equaliser, a chemical battery additive, has proven itself very effective in improving battery life and performance. Other devices such as Solar Trickle Chargers are a great option for battery maintenance.
Parasitic drain is a load put on a battery with the key off. Most vehicles have clocks, engine management computers, alarm systems, etc. In the case of a boat you may have an automatic bilge pump, radio, GPS, etc. These devices may all be operating without the engine running. You may have parasitic loads caused by a short in the electrical system. If you are always having dead battery problems most likely the parasitic drain is excessive. The constant low or dead battery caused by excessive parasitic energy drain will dramatically shorten battery life. If this is a problem you are having, check out the Priority Start and Marine Priority Start to prevent dead batteries before they happen. This special computer switch will turn off your engine start battery before all the starting energy is drained. This technology will prevent you from deep cycling your starting battery.
After reading this post, I think you have understood some basic information about lead acid batteries. Of course, this is just a little and more useful tips will be written in this blog. When you visit it next time, you will find it has updated another new post. If you are interested in lead acid battery, LEOCH battery is good for you, which is an excellent battery manufacturer. A way to design VRLA battery for high availability

Most sealed VRLA batteries currently being manufactured and bid for UPS applications in the USA have a five year design or target life. This can vary upwards with reduced ambient, cycling, and manufacturer, or downwards with factors already discussed. Unlike their more expensive flooded counterparts, VRLA cells tend to fail about as often open circuit as short circuit. This is due primarily to dry-out of electrolyte due to venting of generated hydrogen & oxygen from electrolytic charge & discharge through the one-way valves. As alluded to earlier, dry-out has an extremely high impact on reliability since a single open circuit cell can make an entire string inoperative.
VRLA batteries are generally supplied one string per cabinet in medium to large systems. There can be as little as one string, or as many as 5 or 6 strings deployed to provide the required reserve time. Since a great many UPS systems are purchased “low bid” and many end users do not know the difference, the battery systems provided with such systems could be the cheapest that meet reserve time specification. This will invariably mean single string, or sometimes worse, two string designs for as little as 5 – 10 minutes of reserve time in UPS systems 150-200 KVA or smaller in size. Single string batteries are the most common supplied today. They are very cost-effective and, as empirical data confirms, quite satisfactory for many if not most UPS applications, but not for true high availability applications. Tow strings can actually be worse than one for some low reserve time applications because if either of the two is lost, the entire load is lost – even for a split second outage. This fact is rather ironic, since VRLA battery strings are relatively inexpensive and easy to parallel.
The better way to design with VRLA for high availability applications is to understand the costs, as well as the reliability over time of the various elements of your UPS systems and use that in the decision matrix. Looking at the UPS, battery (single string), and genset components of an overall system, batteries are least expensive, most prone to fail, and have highest impact on critical load crash potential.

what will you do without ups battery

UPS, short for uninterruptible power supply, is a device that allows your computer to keep running for at least a short time when the primary power source is lost. It also provides protection from power surges. In fact, a ups contains a battery that "kicks in" when the device senses a loss of power from the primary source.
Without ups battery, you can do nothing with a ups system. If you are using the computer when the ups notifies you of the power loss, you have enough time to save any data you are working on and exit gracefully before the secondary power source runs out. When power surges occur, a ups intercepts the surge so that it doesn't damage your computer.
As you have known how important a ups is for your computer, you might start worrying about the ups battery. How long does a ups battery last for? In general, a ups replacement battery can last for 3 - 5 years. Of course, it all depends on how you use the ups system.
Just think of the pain and embarrassment that you would not half to go through when you don't half to redo all your work a second time around. I think you will have a bright choice. As for a ups system, the battery is the key factor. Anyway, if you plan to buy a ups or have bought a ups, you must need to know some battery maintenance to prolong the service life, including some buying tips for a new ups replacement battery. These are very important for those people who are about to buy one.

how important self-discharge is for VRLA battery

The self-discharge rate is a measure of how much batteries discharge on their own. The Self-Discharge rate is governed by the construction of the battery and the metallurgy of the lead used inside.
For instance, flooded cells typically use lead alloyed with Antimony to increase their mechanical strength. However, the Antimony also increases the self-discharge rate to 8-40% per month. This is why flooded lead acid batteries should be in use often or left on a trickle-charger.
The lead found in Gel and AGM VRLA batteries does not require a lot of mechanical strength since it is immobilized by the gel or fiberglass. Thus, it is typically alloyed with Calcium to reduce Gassing and Self-Discharge. The self-discharge of Gel and AGM batteries is only 2-10% per month and thus these batteries need less maintenance to keep them happy.
After reading this post, I think you have understood some basic information about batteries. Of course, this is just a little and more useful tips will be written in this blog. When you visit it next time, you will find it has updated another new post.

auto car battery is afraid of low temperature

For our lovely car, we always want it to normally work as long as it can. As we all know, car repair is very high. So we try our best to avoid any failure. In general, the life of a car battery is about 2 - 3 years. The original battery for a new car can last for more than 3 years. In fact, due to some improper use of the new car owners, it causes the MF car battery consumes its power quickly. If we store the car in winter, I think you are not able to start the car again next time.
Why? The auto car battery is afraid of low temperature. At low temperatures, the capacity of the battery is lower than one in summer. What's more, at extremely low temperatures, it might cause the battery suddenly has no power. These failures all have a lot to do with the electrolyte.
At this time, car owners can check the electrolyte level on your own. Open the cover, and check if the level is normal. If you find that it's lowered than the standard line, you must add distilled water. You can't use the normal water instead. If you don't have the distilled water, you can buy some from the market. The general price is in 1-2 yuan per litre. The professional suggests you to buy the water from the regular maintenance shop that can ensure the quality and reduce your waste.
Adding distilled water to auto car battery is just one kind of battery maintenance tips. If you are interested in it, you can go on reading my blog, I will show you more.

How to choose the right CCA rating for your car battery

Cold-cranking amps (CCA) measure the battery's ability to start your car even on an extremely cold weather. During freezing condition, your car will be hard to start (or to ignite) because the car's engine oil thickens and chemical reactions, in turn, slow down.
There are some tips on choosing the right CCA rating for your car battery.
1. Check your owner's manual and follow the CCA rating specified for your car battery.
2. Do not choose batteries with CCA rating which is much lower or much higher to the rating recommended by your car's manufacturer, as well as those CCA rating of 200 amps or more.
3. If both your car's battery brand and exact CCA rating level are not available, you may choose a bit higher (not much and not lower) your car's CCA requirements.
If you want to know more about MF car battery, you can just visit Leoch International, which is an excellent battery manufacturer. golf cart battery configurations

In the beginning, golf cars were designed to simply be what their name implies – cars for golfing. However now they can haul you and a friend around most reasonable kinds of terrain there are other points to consider when making a decision - especially for those who expect or demand a little more. Ok, I don't mean that electric golf carts are for those who wish to joy ride for hours a day. An electric golf cart just gets around two hours of continuous motor run time before batteries will need re-charging. Of course, you must make sure that your golf cart batteries are in good condition.
Battery configurations are typically 42 volt systems, which consists of seven 6-volt batteries, or 48 volt systems, which consists of six 8-volt batteries. Some newer carts house 12-volt batteries. Golf cart manufacturers usually provide a two-year or limited four-year warrantee on new sealed lead acid battery, which are meant to output approximately 20,000 energy units–about 1,000 rounds of golf–when properly maintained.
After knowing some basic information about golf cart batteries, I think you must wonder how to extend the life. In fact, there are many articles to teach you to do that, of course, including mine. So you can read that article in my blog or others. The important thing is that they can help you to realize your goal.
